I think we all want to make the world a better place. We just don’t know where to start. Well, every journey begins with a single step. Anne Herbert suggested, “anything you think there should be more of, do it randomly.”

So here’s the deal:

Get an index card.

On the front write: “Commit a random act of kindness!” or “SPREAD KINDNESS!”

On the back write: “Log onto www.wordpress.com (username: randomacts2009, password: spreadkindness) and blog about the act someone just commited for you! Then go commit your own and leave this card with them.”

This isn’t about getting recognition for what we do. It’s about making the world a little bit better everyday. Which is why the idea is to blog about what someone else did for you, not what you did.

So go out and commit a random act of kindness! Or commit 10!

It could be anything from buying a coffee for the person in line behind you at your local coffee shop to making muffins for the new parents across the street. You could slip a bit of money into a parking meter about to expire and slip the card under the wipers or help someone carry their groceries home. There’s no limit and no wrong move if you’re acting from a place of kindness and virtue.

It may seem huge, or daunting, but these are small acts. Simple small acts that can set off a chain of kindness.

And if you’ve logged on because you received a card, write a post about it! It can be long or short, detailed or vague. Let’s spread some kindness!
